Measuring out the essential oils
SLOWLY adding the lye crystals to the water
Temperature reads 174.2 degrees F! VERY HOT!! This will need to cool down to 110 degrees F. before I add this to my melted oils.
Once the lye and oils have reached the correct temperatures, they get mixed together until they get to a pudding-like consistency. This is called 'trace'.
Raw soap. This gets poured into a mold for 24 hours, then cured for 4-6 weeks. It's a long process but so worth it!
